Narcona Beef focuses on high fertility, moderate framed cattle with high quality carcass traits, because we’ve had to. Our commercial success is a necessity for our business and these traits carry on through all of our herds, crossbred and purebred.

In addition to this we focus on low stress stock handling, with Russell being a registered trainer for low stress techniques, teaching throughout Queensland and right across the top end of Australia. Going hand in hand with low stress livestock handling is temperament, an important trait we select heavily on at Narcona Beef. We realise low stress cattle not only have a better eating quality, but also make the management of large scale operations easier.

Our Mission is to close the gaps between stud breeding and commercial viability

We have done this over the years through careful selection of our dams and sires, using visual assessment and carcass feedback from abattoirs. Moving forward we aim to back this up with Breedplan and Genomics, to supply the data that supports our product and enable another tool to further develop our herd.

We are always striving for continual improvement, with dams and sires matched year on year, targeting desirable traits. Sires are purchased from outside the herd, to keep new bloodlines coming in and to keep our cattle moving forward to the future.
